- When pressing the hand down, gently roll it from side to side. This will help make the fingers look thicker & help get the paint in all the areas
- When making thumb or finger prints, gentle presses make more of a circular shape, while firm presses make more of an oval shape.
- Instead of painting the entire hand to make a print, you could try tracing your child's hand & then coloring it with either markers or paints.
- If there are spaces where paint is missing in your print, gently dab the areas with the paintbrush or use your finger to fill in the color.
- Add googly eyes to prints to make it more fun.
- Draw in detail with a permanent marker or a fine-tipped black marker for the cleanest look.
- Add anything you wish to ~ the ideas are limitless! Add ribbon, brads, glitter, sequins, etc.
- It is hard to get an infant's handprint so don't be discouraged! Instead, maybe try tracing the hand and then painting it in. Or trace the hand and cut it out... scrapbook paper, fabric, etc.
- If using fabric paint, I was told by an art teacher to try mixing a little bit of water in with the paint. This helps it to not have so many gaps in your print.
- Most importantly~ Have fun! If your child doesn't like having their hands and feet painted, try doing some fingerpainting first or try again another day.
