Yesterday we made this fun Christmas Tree made with multiple handprints.
Christmas Tree made with Multiple Handprints Tutorial
I ripped a piece of paper out of out Crayola Floor Pad and painted my son's left hand green. I started with the bottom row 1st and placed 5 green handprints, reapplying paint when needed (place as many handprints as you wish). I repeated the same thing with the rest of the rows with the exception of making one less handprint per row.
Then, I painted his right hand green and added one handprint on each row (you want there to be one thumbprint facing out on each end). Make one last handprint on the top and then set it off to the side to dry.
When it finished drying, I added red garland, a star, and a tree trunk.
To finish the Christmas tree made with multiple handprints, I used my son's thumbs to make yellow, blue, and white prints all over to resemble ornaments.
It's hard to see in these pictures, but I added Crayola Mixing Mediums to each of the paint colors. They are AWESOME! I used Glitter It!, Pearl It!, and Texture It! Click HERE to be taken to the Crayola website to read their description and find where you can buy them by you. I bought mine from Michael's using a 50% off coupon and they ended up being less then $4 (they came altogether!).
We had lots of little paint smudges and splatters all over the white paper so I decided to cut around the tree. Now it's hanging on the refrigerator eye level with my toddler so he can look at it everyday.

I LOVE it!!! I made a tree with Dawson';s handprints, too, but I cut his out instead of using paint. (I can't wait until he is older so I CAN start using paint! It will be so much easier! *lol* And I am going to have to check out those Crayola Mixing Mediums, I have never heard of them before!

This is really really cute. My son has been into doing handprint art lately, so this would be a great one to add to our list.

We're doing a similar tree combining my 2 1/2 yr old and my 10 mo old's hand prints. We're putting it on canvas and giving it to the grandparents as a gift! Thanks for the visual as a jump start! Laura

These ideas are awesome I just have one suggestion. You can take clear shelf lining that can be purchased in most stores and the artwork so that it can be viewed for many, many years to come.
