Hi Fun Handprint Art readers, my name is Tina, and I blog over at Simple Fun for Kids. I love all the handprint ideas Amanda shares, and I'm so excited to get a chance today to tell you all about a super cute handprint reindeer paper ornament craft we made as a Christmas keepsake.
My daughter has always loved handprint crafts, and when we were brainstorming ideas for Christmas gifts for her teachers, we came up with these reindeer! They are really quick and simple to make, and no two are alike!
My daughter was only 3 when we did this, and she did most of it herself! Here's another cute ornament we made together.
How to make the Handprint Reindeer Paper Ornament

Supplies:
- construction paper or other heavier paper
- brown tempera paint (or yellow, blue, and red paint to mix your own shade of brown)
- googly eyes
- pom poms
- glue
- small bowls for the paint and glue
- paintbrush
- hole punch
- piece of string, ribbon, pipe cleaner or similar
E actually made her own brown paint for this project. She mixed yellow, blue, and red paint until it turned very dark purple. Oops 😉 I ended up giving her some white paint, and it helped even things out and make a nice shade of brown.
It looked sort of reddish on her hand, but once it had dried on the paper, it was a really nice color.
I painted her hand with a paintbrush and initially just painted all of her fingers without thinking. When I realized that this would work much better with just four fingers as antlers, I wiped the paint off her thumb - no problem 🙂
E made the handprint on brown construction paper, then used a clean paintbrush to brush some glue on a white pompom and two googly eyes and stuck them on the paper to give the reindeer a face.
She did great!
When she was done with her first reindeer, she couldn't stop. She only had two teachers at the time, but she decided to make two more reindeer for the teachers in the other classroom, and then two more after that for our Christmas tree 🙂

To turn the handprint reindeer into paper Christmas ornaments, I cut them out and punched a hole at the top. E threaded a short pipe cleaner through the hole, but string, ribbon, or ornament hooks would work well, too.
Simple and cute, just my kind of craft 🙂
