It's that time again! Can you believe it's already nearing the end of February? Another holiday over and time to re-decorate our house in green, rainbows, pots of gold, leprechauns, and clover crafts. Even though St. Patrick's Day doesn't rank super high on my list of favorite holidays, it is fun to decorate our home in anything and everything for holidays, like these rainbow handprint crafts! We like hanging kid made crafts and art around the house as much as we can, especially for holidays. This 4 leaf clover fingerprint resist painting is the first thing we will be hanging! I love how it turned out so much that I may even buy a frame for it.

Last year was the first year, in our home, that we decorated for St. Patrick's Day. It all started when my daughter asked if we could make a leprechaun trap. Of course we did and it just progressed from there. I realized how fun of a holiday it is to decorate for, it's much more than just making sure to wear a green shirt!
We have done fingerprint painting before and I thought it would be perfect for a clover resist project. My 5 year old had SO much fun making this and I am obsessed with how it turned out.
How to make the 4 Leaf Clover Fingerprint Resist Painting
Supplies:
- Construction Paper (We used white & green)
- Scissors
- Tape
- Green Paint
Instructions:
This activity was easy to set up because it only requires a few supplies.
I cut a clover out of the green construction paper. I chose green because I thought it would be easiest for my daughter to understand what we were doing. The color of the clover is completely optional.
I used a few pieces of tape to secure the clover to a white piece of construction paper. It does not have to be completely secure everywhere, it laid nicely.
My daughter took her finger, dipped it in green paint, and tapped it on the white construction paper around the clover. She did this over and over until the white portions of paper were almost all the way covered.
{{You can see that some spots were with a freshly covered finger, while others are lighter because there wasn't as much paint on her finger. I love how the textured look resulted. }}
When the paint was slightly dry (1-2 minutes), we took the clover & tape off. What was left is a beautiful Clover Resist painting. Obsessed, right?

The best part is that there was barely any clean up for this project because she only painted with one finger, with one color, on one sheet of paper.
