Sleeping Beauty Handprint Plate Keepsake

Do you have a child who adores the Disney Princesses? My 4 year old sure does! Her favorite is Princess Aurora from *Sleeping Beauty since she went through a phase where everything had to be pink...tee, hee. It's still her favorite color! She loves to dress up like her and talks about Sleeping Beauty all the time. *As an Amazon associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Because I'm a huge fan of keepsakes, I wanted to make a Sleeping Beauty handprint plate keepsake for her to have. Not only does it preserve precious memories, it can be used as display in her bedroom! The best part? It brought the biggest smile to her face when she saw the finished design.

First, you will need a plate. We purchased ours from the dollar store.

Get your paint ready. If you don't have pink then mix red with white. I prefer to use enamel paints since they don't scratch easily when dry. Please note that these paints and acrylic paints do not come out of clothing. Make a handprint of the child right hand on the plate. I asked my daughter to keep her fingers spread open a little when I pressed it down to make the print. Let dry.

Print the Aurora paper doll craft from Disney Family. Cut around Aurora and the pink dress. You only need the top half so cut the legs off and where the light and dark pink meet in the middle on the dress.

Use Mod Podge to glue Aurora on top of the handprint keeping in mind that the fingers should be pointed downwards with the bottom of the palm being where it's glued. I flipped the paper doll over on top of newspaper and used a paintbrush to spread Mod Podge over it. The dress is glued on using this same method making sure to match Sleeping Beauty.

Outline the dress. I used the part of the dress that was cut off as a guideline to base or handprint dress off of. I didn't have the exact color I needed, so I outlined with red and then went back over it with a pink marker (Sharpie). The last step I did for the dress was add the white ruffles at the bottom.

My little princess is obsessed with the Palace Pets, especially Beauty since it's Aurora's pet. We added a sticker of Beauty and a pink heart next to Aurora. The stickers are from her Pet Friend's Forever! book.

Now your Disney inspired Sleeping Beauty handprint plate is ready to be displayed! I like to place our plate keepsakes in plate holders. The ones we use were found near the picture frame sections of department stores.
