If your kids are into rainbows and leprechauns, show them this fun St. patrick’s Day craft! It's a leprechaun trap cleverly disguised as a rainbow house made from a handprint. This rainbow leprechaun trap art project is great for preschool and lower elementary aged children.
What fun leprechaun traps have your kids made in the past? I adore this leprechaun trap using rainbow colored craft sticks!

Instructions for the Rainbow Leprechaun Trap Art
First paint the child’s hand with all the colors of the rainbow, starting with red at the bottom and ending with purple at the top (or vice versa).
With the fingers together, make a handprint along the bottom of the paper in the center.
Next, make a yellow thumbprint to create the sun. Add sun rays with smaller fingerprints.
Once finished with the sun, create fingerprint clouds using blue paint. Then make green fingerprints on the bottom edge to create grass.
Set aside to dry.
Now that it’s dry you can add details with markers. Try drawing in a few lines coming out from the center of the thumbprint sun to create rays. Outline the fingerprints clouds with a blue marker to make them look fluffy.
Lastly, create the house for the rainbow leprechaun trap by drawing a roof on the top of the handprint and walls on the sides. Finish the rainbow house by adding on a chimney, doors and windows.
To lure the leprechaun into the house, make a little “FREE GOLD” sign in the grass.
Now your rainbow leprechaun trap artwork is finished and ready to be displayed for St. Patrick's Day! If you'd like, make a cute footprint leprechaun to display with the rainbow handprint house!
