It's that time of the year again- kids are headed back to school! 1st day of school photos and handprint crafts are popular keepsake ideas that parents and teachers use to document the big day. Today, I'm sharing 1st day of school handprint printables for preschoolers, kindergartners, and 1st graders that I created to share with others. You can print them for free! Make it even more memorable by adding a 1st day photo along with the handprint.
Free 1st Day of School Handprint Printables
This handprint craft is such a sweet way to mark younger children's 1st day of school. I made separate printables for different grades with the following sayings: o'FISH'ally a Preschooler, o'FISH'ally a Kindergartner, and o'FISH'ally a 1st Grader. I just love cute, play on words crafts!

Make 1-2 handprint fish and add a photo from the 1st day or leave the photo off.
There are many ways to create the fish. If you are looking for inspiration, we have a ton on the blog that you can browse in our handprint fish category. We made stripes in colors that the kids chose; then added googly eyes and gems using our Elmer's Early Learners glue stick.
The mouths are drawn on with glitter glue pens. We also used them to make dots and stripes designs. Little Sister loves to make her crafts sparkle! The sticker gems are from our blog friends over on CraftProjectIdeas.com.
We also made a rainbow fish on the kindergartner printable just for fun. My son will be attending 1st grade and I'm hoping to get my 3-year-old signed up for a Preschool Prep class.
*UPDATE: I have updated the text on the printables to give it a more fun look and feel 🙂 There are 2 different color choices for each grade and range from blues, red, yellow, pink, and purple. (Original photos from 2014 have been replaced with the new font style)

This is such a cute idea. You could also leave a space for a last day of school handprint on the same page to see the size difference 🙂
