Printable First Day Of School Interview With Handprint

It feels like summer just started, but at the same time it’s almost over. School starts for us in less than 3 weeks. It may be because this year my daughter, my sweet little baby is going to kindergarten. If summer feels like it flew by, it has nothing on the last 5 1/2 years!

I can’t believe we have been shopping for school supplies, back packs, lunch boxes and all that jazz! Soon we’ll have back to school night, field trips, class parties and homework. I want to make sure I take some time to really put my daughter, at this age, in my memory. She’s in kindergarten now, but high school is not that far off. I want to remember her sweet self as she is right now. This First Day Of School Interview printable is perfect for this! It includes spots for a photo and handprint too.

First Day Of School Interview Printable

I swear these days, if I don’t write something down – I will forget it. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older or maybe it’s just the life of a mom. We have so many different things running through our minds, it’s just not normal to be able to remember EVERYTHING.

That is why I think First Day Of School interviews are so important. We did a questionnaire for her Preschool Graduation.  I am happy that we did it, I feel like she’s grown up so much in just the last couple months. I decided I will do a first day of school interview, and maybe even the last day of school interview, until she is graduated from high school, (no matter how much she complains). I don’t want to forget the small, fun details of her life!

We used her preschool picture, for now. Obviously school hasn’t started yet so we don’t have a ‘first day of school’ picture, yet. When we do, we’ll replace it. Another idea, you could wait and use a school photo if applicable.

The first page has a place for a picture, 5×7 or smaller. (We used her preschool picture for now because it’s not the first day of school yet, but we’ll switch it after). I also included a few spots to answer questions about her school and class. This can be personalized for any grade, I didn’t specify, so if you have more than one child you can use it for everyone. Or you can do like me, and use it year after year.

The second page has space for a handprint. I traced her handprint and colored it in, but you could use an ink pad too. There are apples again with a few ‘favorite’ questions. I chose color, food and book. I also put a line for what she wants to be when she grows up. This changes at least monthly, so it’ll be interesting to see how it changes over the next couple years.

It’s amazing how fast our little ones grow. If you’re anything like me, you hope to at least remember the important things, but everything would be amazing. This simple sheet will literally take moments to fill out, but will help memories last forever.

Both shoe crafts were inspired by a Pete the Cat Book, a must read! Plus, how fun is it to make a shoe print instead of a footprint?!
